Willingdon Year of End Event 2025

Grand Finale

Thanks to successful fundraising, revisiting how we use and where we spend our H&S funds, and leveraging our parent community to do some of the labour, we are delighted to offer this event for free.

All activities are free and we will be offering one hot dog, drink and snack per person.

To reduce line-ups and accurately predict food quantities, RSVP for the food portion of this event is required.

Food Drive Recap

Food Drive Recap

Thanks SO much to Willingdon School for your participation in our Food Drive.

A total of 595 food donations were collected! Thanks to all the volunteers who helped with the daily sorting and organizing.

We are happy to report that the food went to refill the pantry at Auberge Transition, to the women who Le Mouvement contre le viol et l’inceste help support and directly to some local families.

Thank you for your continued support Willingdon!

Willingdon Student Film Festival

Willingdon Student Film Festival

We would like to invite you (the parents/guardians) with your children to the Willingdon Student Film Festival movie night on Thursday, May 1st, 6pm-8pm at the gym of Willingdon’s Senior Campus.

In order to better plan the event, please confirm your attendance via the registration form. The registration is mandatory as the places are limited.

Due to the limited space at the gym, the invitation is open to a recommended 4 people max per family (exception – families with more than two kids: kids + 2 parent/guardians).

This year the film festival night is also a fundraiser for the grad 2025. Our lovely grad parents are organizing the snack stand that will be open from 6-6.30pm in the gym, so please bring cash to support our graduating students! Admission to the film festival is by donation to cover the cost of Home&School supporting the film festival (suggested donation is 2$ per person).

Thanks so much and we are looking forward to seeing you there!

Willingdon Food Drive

Willingdon Food Drive

It’s nearly time to show that Willingdon community spirit again! Because when compassion and community connect, real change happens. So, let’s come together to donate non-perishables, to be collected and distributed by Carolyn’s Community.

What do I bring?

Here are some suggestions for items to donate. Please try to keep in mind that a wider variety of healthy items is always best.

  • Canned goods (fish, fruits, vegetables, beans, soups, broths, etc.)
  • Dry foods (pasta, rice, quinoa, couscous, flour, sugar and other baking ingredients, breakfast cereal, oatmeal, etc.)
  • Pantry items (pasta sauce, tomato paste, vegetable oil, olive oil, vinegar, peanut butter, salt, pepper, spices, etc.)
  • Peanut-free lunch snacks (crackers, granola bars, cookies, pudding, etc.)
  • Baby food (cereals, crackers, pouched purĂ©es, etc.)
  • Staples (tea, coffee, condiments like ketchup and mayo, etc.)
Food Drive Apr 2025

Why is this important?

The food drive is an excellent opportunity to teach our kids about food insecurity — and not just globally but right here in our own community. There will be visual trackers to measure how much we’ve collected around the school so that students can track our collective progress and to encourage them to get involved in giving back locally.

We need volunteers

Before, during and after…

We need two volunteers at junior and one at senior to put up the posters and tracker on Monday March 31st. Also need that volunteer to update the posters on the boxes that are kept in home and school and in the science room.

The week of the Food Drive, we need 2 volunteers daily at junior campus, and one at senior campus (week of April 7th) to bring down the food from each floor into the cafeteria, count the cans, sort and store. Also update the chart with the amount of cans representing the number of food items collected. Volunteer would need to arrive at 9;30 so as to give the kids enough time to put their donations in the boxes and enough time to count, sort and put away before lunch time.

Monday April 14th, when the pick ups will be, we need two volunteers at junior at 9:00 to help divide up the stuff into groupings for pick up. One volunteer to pick up everything at senior that is stored and bring to junior at 10;00.

Community Book Fair

Community Book Fair

Home and School is excited to announce our second Community Book Fair, where students will once again have the chance to shop for gently used books at amazing prices—just a buck or two! The event will take place at the school, and all proceeds will go directly to Willingdon Home and School.

There will be separate book fairs at each campus on May 15th. The Junior book fair will run 9am – 3pm, the Senior book fair will be 1:30 – 3:30pm.

Books and puzzles will be priced between $1 – $5.

To make this event a success, we need your help! Please consider donating gently-used books, as well as complete puzzles or games. Your donations will give our kids an opportunity to find new reading treasures while supporting our school. This new format also aligns with our commitment to Green initiatives, by encouraging reuse and reducing waste.

What we need:
Gently-used books, puzzles, and games (complete sets only please!)

Where to drop them off:
Donations can be dropped of at the Royal side entrance of Junior Campus, just outside the office.

When:
Donations are accepted starting today!

We need volunteers to sort books and setup evening of May 13th & 14th.
